Jess & Ace's Wedding

Jess Lehmann and Ace Prokopec chose to hold both their ceremony and reception at St Hugo Wines, with a backdrop of autumnal tones, the couple’s favourite season.

It’s fair to say that Jess, the daughter of Janet and Kym Lehmann of Angaston and Ace, the son of Robin and Ken Prokopec of Springton, knew the area well – and they had done their homework when choosing the wedding location that best resonated with their style.

“We both love the outdoors and autumn and were looking at venues through May to June last year,” Jess said. “We visited St Hugo and absolutely loved the gorgeous glory vine overhanging the courtyard and the changing leaves of the vineyards and bush vines surrounding the grounds.”

Natural beauty aside, the couple also warmed to the aesthetic of the building, which inspired the rich, warm palette from fabrics to flowers.

“The old stone walls, large glass windows, open fire place and modern black and gold finishes of the building, really directed us to an autumn theme – choosing chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses, black velvet suits and rich reds, oranges and yellows in the bouquets,” Jess explained.

“The incredible views from inside also (offered) great peace of mind for likely wet weather in May in Rowland Flat.”

Right on point, clear umbrellas sourced by Jess’s Mum were used by the wedding party on the day, creating a point of difference with their wedding photos and proving a visually-interesting prop.

Another refreshingly different choice was the Macaron tower instead of a traditional cake, with the artistic creation by Zynski Bakes.

When it comes to recalling a favourite moment, it’s clear that Jess has more than one.

“It’s so hard to choose, seeing each other at either end of the aisle and sharing our vows.

“…The wet concrete and grounds were beautiful and really made the photos pop. Being a little wet and muddy just added to the fun and cosy autumn vibe we hoped for the day..”
